Just about anyone who’s ever been a kid knows at least the chorus of “This Land is Your Land.” It’s a popular choice among music teachers leading sing alongs. Woody Guthrie wrote the song almost 75 years ago, and it’s far and away his best known work. Robert Santelli uses it to tell the story of Guthrie’s life and career in a new book, “This Land is Your Land: Woody Guthrie and the Journey of an American Folksong.” Santelli is the Executive Director of the Grammy Museum, which is partnering with the Woody Guthrie Foundation to celebrate Guthrie’s centennial.

Nora Guthrie, Woody’s daughter, has offered her father’s lyrics to many contemporary artists. The latest album from that collaboration is titled “New Multitudes,” and features music written by Jay Farrar, Will Johnson, Anders Parker and Jim James. The quartet has been touring, and will appear at the Newport Folk Festival at the end of this month.
Excellent show. Thank you!
