John Dyben and This I Believe

essayist John DybenEach week, we’ll hear a new This I Believe essay – this time from John Dyben. When his young daughter got scared one night, he struggled to find the words that would allay her fears. In his efforts to comfort her, Dyben realized that simply holding his child was as valuable as having the perfect answers to her questions about uncertain protections against boogeymen and burglars. Dyben is a therapist, educator, pastor and musician. He currently serves as the clinical director of a treatment center and teaches at a state college. Dyben lives with his wife and two children in south Florida. His essay is featured in the book This I Believe: On Fatherhood.
