Allan Barger and This I Believe

Essayist Allan Barger

Each week, we’ll hear a new This I Believe essay – this time by Allan Barger.  He tried living the certainties of his faith, but when that conflicted with who he really was, he chose to embrace the uncertainty that came with his true identity. Now he believes we’d all benefit from a little more flexibility and a little less certainty in our lives. Barger has worked as a research analyst with a non-profit organization for nearly twenty years to reduce alcohol and drug problems in America. He is also a parent of four daughters and a grandparent of five kids. Barger lives in Palm Springs, California.
