Poll

A question for Sirius XM subscribers.  Did any of you decide to subscribe to Sirius XM because you listened to Bob Edwards Weeekend on your local public radio station or via podcast and decided you’d like to hear Bob everyday?  If so, we’d love to hear from you.  Please reply in the comments.

  1. I do love Bob. One of the best interviewers on the radio. But not enough to pay for Sirius. I don't need it and while Bob is great he's not worth both the monthly fee and all the mail they insist on sending. Bad decision and will mean Bob's reach is significantly diminished.

  2. I subscribe to sirius radio so that I can listen to Bob Edwards and hear radio Margaritaville. When Bob interviewed Jimmy Buffett, I was glued to the radio! I can hear Buffett on my many CD's but I can only hear Bob Edwards on Sirius or XM. If Bob was not on Sirius, I would not subscribe. Now could you get Bob to interview Willie Nelson?

  3. I had woken up with Bob for so many years by the time that he left NPR that I was a little fearful of being without him His was a reassuring voice with which I could greet each day and feel good about it. When NPR made their idiotic decision to replace him, I began stalking his every movement hoping that I would be able to track down that voice and make him part of my daily life again. Now, driving back and forth to work is often the best part of my day. I look forward to the drive each and every day and even delay leaving work in order to enjoy the drive home together with Bob.

Oddly, I was just discussing the slide of NPR since 2004 from respect to suspect yesterday before even reading this post. NPR nailed the coffin for me when they dismissed Juan Williams last year. They have still have some interesting news pieces but I no longer seek them out on my radio dial. In fact, my dial lives on XM121. Thank you Bob for some great conversations, in bed and out!

  4. I LOVED Bob Edwards as the host of Morning Edition and was horrified when NPR had the poor judgement to let him go. So when I found out he was getting his own show on XM I subscribed for that reason alone. And of course it turns out for us Bob Edwards fans that his show on Siriusxm allows him to just focus on those wonderful in-depth interviews that he does so incredibly well. I try to listen every day – I hope he's as happy at Siriusxm as I am that he's there!!! Thanks Bob!!!

  5. I subscribed to XM the day that the new Bob Edwards Show was announced. I listened to Bob every day on NPR, and was shocked to read in the Post that he had been fired — SHAME on them! However, it has worked out for the best because I love the show on XM and listen almost every single day. Thanks for everything Bob!

  6. I subscribed to XM some years ago, as soon as the Bob Edwards show was announced.

Bob Edwards, BBC World, and the two classical channels are pretty much all I listen to on Satellite radio, but they're enough.

    Keep Bob Edwards — Forever…

  7. Originally when I got XM I did not know about the Bob Edwards Show, but since having XM I listen religiously on the way to work every morning. Bob always has interesting guests on with wonderful stories to tell. I have thought about getting rid of my XM subscription, but just can't because I enjoy his show so much and can't go back to regular radio.
