Patrick Hennessy on What to Read Between Battles

Patrick Hennessy enjoyed a priviliged British upbringing and got his English degree from Oxford University. Then he joined the Army to test himself. Hennessy served with coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Between the excitement of battles, he quickly realized that war can be very boring, so Hennessy formed the Junior Officers’ Reading Club to help pass the time and maintain his sanity. That’s also the title of his new memoir about his experiences. Hennessy retired as the youngest captain in the army and was commended for gallantry. Now he’s studying for a law degree which he hopes to use in settling conflicts in international humanitarian law.
