Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by Helen Hayes. Known as the First Lady of American Theater, Hayes was a star of Broadway, movies and television. She received three Tony Awards in her 60 years on stage and won two Academy Awards for her movie roles. Despite that success, it took the death of her daughter to teach Hayes the interdependence of humanity and the need for more compassion.
