Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by Maria von Trapp. She was the mother of seven girls and three boys, known as the world famous Trapp Family Singers. The story of their flight from Austria during Nazi occupation became the basis for “The Sound of Music.” Trapp and her family settled in Vermont where they still operate a lodge and music camp. Maria von Trapp and her husband were puzzled by a Bible verse that says only those who “become like little children” gain entry to heaven.
