Dan Gediman, Phyllis Kirk and This I Believe

Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by Phyllis Kirk. The actress starred with Vincent Price in the horror film “House of Wax,” and with Peter Lawford in “The Thin Man” television series. Throughout her career, Kirk was active in various social and civil liberties causes. She writes in her essay that the greatest thing we have to fear is fear, which leads to isolation, intolerance, prejudice and violence. Kirk believes that if we can free ourselves and our children from fear, we can create a better tomorrow.
