It’s About Time is the name of the album and a pretty good summation of Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics’ recent success. We caught up with the band last month at New York’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival, where they performed in the midst of tropical storm Andrea for their vibrant, colorful, and very dedicated fans. This Atlanta-based group has one goal in mind: to keep “the soul continuum” moving for the next generation of music lovers— just like The Delfonics… The Ojays… The Dramatics… The Temptations… did for them. Ruby and her keyboardist, Spencer Garn, sat down with Bob to discuss their music and their hope for soul music.
