Julia Pistell and This I Believe

essayist Julia PistellEach week, we’ll hear a new This I Believe essay – this week by Julia Pistell. She works as a marketing assistant at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut and is a professional improvisational actor with Sea Tea Improv. Pistell is also a recipient of a Writers Fellowship from the Greater Hartford Arts Council, and a graduate of Bennington College’s Nonfiction MFA Program. In her essay, Pistell writes about her belief that the lunch hour shouldn’t just be about food.  She believes it’s an excellent opportunity to enrich our daily lives by exploring the world around us, getting to know new people, or offering ourselves a restful break. In fact, she recorded this essay during her lunch break.
