essayist Corey HarbaughEach week, we’ll hear a new This I Believe essay – this week by Corey Harbaugh. He lives in Gobles, Michigan, and teaches English at the local high school. As a member of the Third Coast Writing Project, Harbaugh promotes the power of writing in the National Writing Project network. Harbaugh wrote his essay about how he replied to a particularly tough question posed by his eight-year-old son. When asked “who really brings the presents at Christmas” Harbaugh wondered if he should answer the question honestly, even if it risks shaking his son’s beliefs. He found a reply that honors both his son and the truth. Corey Harbaugh and his wife are raising four children in a healthy, busy blended family.
