Scott Shackelford and This I Believe

essayist Scott ShackelfordEach week, we’ll hear a new This I Believe essay – this week by Scott Shackelford, an assistant professor of business law and ethics at Indiana University.  A native of Indianapolis, Shackelford studied economics and political science at Indiana University, international relations at Cambridge, and law at Stanford.  He enjoys writing about science and technology, traveling, and sharing a love of science fiction with his father.  They’ve bonded through Star Wars and Star Trek and over the works of Isaac Asimov and other science fiction writers who transport readers to distant time periods and galaxies far, far away. Shackelford believes their mutual love and respect for the sci-fi genre gives him a way to connect with his father and fosters his own creativity in the real world.
