Turtle Island’s Jimi Hendrix

by Ariana Pekary, producer

Bob with The Turtle Island Quartet in the Sirius XM performance studio

Today’s interview with the Turtle Island Quartet made me appreciate not only Turtle Island’s music better, but I think it helped me appreciate jazz and Hendrix even more, too.  It was great fun having them in our performance studio – they were so engaging and passionate about the music (theirs AND Hendrix’s).  And personally, I was thrilled when they demonstrated the “Hendrix chord.”

Find their CD, “Have You Ever Been…?” on their web site.  And for fun, check out the official Jimi Hendrix site – it’s too late to catch the “Experience Hendrix” tour this year, but you can find a bio, music, and fun photos of the rock legend.  Enjoy!

Here is a video of some of the conversation and performance by The Turtle Island Quartet.

This was not only a wonderfully informative interview about the genius of Hendrix music, but so heart enduring as to the music of the times of the man, and that this group is is keeping it alive and shows how it can be played in any genre and work. Really will touch your heart if you're from theat time. MikeLyle High School class of '67.
