Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer

by Chad Campbell, senior producer

It’s always a joy to produce Bob’s interviews with the virtuoso documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney. (Click here to read my previous appreciation.) His latest release details the rise and fall of former New York Attorney General and Governor Eliot Spitzer. It’s called Client 9. Spitzer redefined the office of attorney general, taking on corporations and billionaires on Wall Street, all for the benefit of the common man. He was respected and feared and was easily elected Governor of New York with nearly 70% of the vote. But Spitzer only served about a year of his term before his part in a prostitution ring led to his shocking resignation. Now he’s busy trying to rehabilitate his image. He’s currently the co-host of the struggling CNN program Parker Spitzer. But Gibney believes that Spitzer is just biding his time as he figures out a way to get back into public service and politics.
