Bad Sports

Dave Zirin seems less a sports fan than an advocate for sports fans. That tendency is on display in his latest book, “Bad Sports: How Owners Are Ruining the Games We Love.” He writes about the ways publicly funded stadiums and huge television contracts have allowed owners of professional teams to shut their ears to the protests of fans who are outraged over ticket prices, parking fees, and $8 beer. More than that, Zirin worries about owners who make money from taxpayers, then use those funds to support ultraconservative causes. You can find an excerpt of the book here. And you can listen to Zirin’s program, Edge of Sports Radio every Friday at noon. Click here for details.
