Dan Gediman, Ruth Cranston and This I Believe

Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of  This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by writer and lecturer Ruth Cranston. She lived in 18 different countries during her life, including 10 years in Switzerland where she worked for the League of Nations. Cranston wrote “World Faith: The Story of the Religions of the United Nations.” As a minister’s daughter, Cranston knew the teachings of the Bible, but she longed to discover the deeper values that shaped all the world’s religions. Cranston found a belief on which to build her life in the words of Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, and Mohammed. Click here to read a transcript and to listen to the audio of her “This I Believe” essay.
