Tom Russell has lived a fascinating life. Educated as a criminologist, Russell spent time teaching in Nigeria, driving a cab in New York and playing music to rowdy loggers in Canadian strip bars. All these life experiences provide a rich vein of material for Russell’s songwriting. His new album is called Blood and Candle Smoke, and Tom Russell stopped by our studio with guitarist Thad Beckman in the midst of a tour.
