Dan Gediman, Charles Parrish and This I Believe

Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by Charles Parrish and was recorded on stage in front of an audience at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. As a professor of sociology at the University of Louisville, Charles Henry Parrish was the first African-American to be appointed to the faculty of a white southern university. Inspired by the generosity of his parents, Parrish believed in the importance of helping others and always looking for the good in people. By doing so, Parish says we can catch a vision of God. Click here to read a transcript and to hear the audio of Charles Parrish’s “This I Believe” essay.
