State of the Ocean

By Dan Bloom, Producer

Sylvia Earle is an accomplished oceanographer who’s led underwater expeditions all over the world. Because of all her experience in the ocean, she knows how much we stand to lose if we don’t protect it. Earle sounds the alarm on the grave state of our oceans in her new book “The World Is Blue: How Our Fate and the Ocean’s Are One.”

The book paints a realistic but hopeful picture. Earle writes that we’ve done a lot of damage, and although some of it is irreparable, its never too late to start respecting our oceans.

Sylvia Earle is a National Geographic explorer-in-residence and she’s on the board of directors of the Ocean Conservancy. Visit their website to learn more about the ocean’s health.
