Dan Gediman, Margaret Mead and This I Believe

Each week Bob is joined by Dan Gediman, the Executive Director of This I Believe, Inc. to discuss one of the original essays from the 1950s radio series. This week’s featured essay is by anthropologist Margaret Mead. She worked in Polynesia during the 1920s, studying “primitive” cultures, then untouched by Western influence. Mead wrote about her findings in a book called “Coming of Age in Samoa.” She was also a professor, a museum curator and served as the president of The American Association for the Advancement of Science. Click here to read a transcript and to hear the audio of her “This I Believe” essay.
