Love Kenneth Branagh…definitely want to check out his new show. He was amazing in "Valkyrie" by the way.
The resons that runners run on the road when a sidewalk is available are many. Sidewalks are concrete, with zero resilience. Asphalt, especially when warm, has a veryslight "give" which lessens the impact of the footstrike. Sidewalks tend to be uneven, with many opportunities for tripping. Pedestrian-crowded sidewalks necessitate rapid changes of direction and speed by the runner.
