Just in case you were wondering how Ken Turan did in his predictions…
He completely missed Best Foreign Film. A Japanese film called Departures upset Turan’s top choices The Class and Waltz With Bashir. Turan also thought Viola Davis would win for Best Supporting Actress, but he did successfully predict Penelope Cruz as the other possible winner. His other eight guesses were exactly right. Slumdog Millionaire won for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Sean Penn beat out Mickey Rourke for Best Actor. Kate Winslet won for Best Actress. The late Heath Ledger won for his supporting role as The Joker in the latest Batman movie. Milk won for Best Original Screenplay and Man on Wire won for Best Documentary.
